It has been reported that the JAPANSE are maintaining an armed guard on the road on the CHINESE side of the SHUM CHUN river and that there are 2,000 armed JAPANESE in the town of SHUM CHUN. The JAPANESE are allowing trucks from KOLOON to cross the border and return with vegetables.
The JAPANESE were observed to have erected a small barrier on the railroad about three quarters of a mile over the border but this is now reported to have been removed by them.
Thirteen JA PANISE service personnel against whom evidence of war crimes exist are now in custody in BLOCK F STANLEY PRISON which has been set up as a special 7.0.W. camp. Additional war criminals will be segregated there as they are identified.
The nominal roll of JAPANESE F.0.7. in SHAMSHUIPO has been completed and the rolls of JAPANESE in WHITFIELD and ARGYLE are now being worked on.
II.
CHINESE,
The CHINESE military delegation to the COLONY is increasing in size due to the planned movement of the CHINESE 13th ARTY.
It is reported that 2,000 CHIME military personnel are in SU CHUN living amiably with the JAPANESE troops referred to above. They are stated to be elements of the CHINESE 13th ARY awaiting transportation.
Menbers of the CHINESE military delegation have been taken on personally conducted tours during the week to inspect JAPANESE equipment. They were accompanied by a naval or arıy officer on behalf of COL. HITCO BE. In this connection it is noteworthy that the CHIMCH niary delegation have somewhat exorbitant views on what constitutes military equipment as they include all forms of transport even private motor cars which had been requisitioned by the JAPA SA. The CHUNE delegation are reported to be somewhat dissatisfied that various JAPANESE equip- rent has been moved or put to some use by PRITISH authorities. visit to the HONG KONG & HAIROA DOCKING CO PANY was not a success es some of the CHINESE in particular GENERAL JUS felt they were treated too familiarly by the civilian superintendant and his staff. It is suspected that this CHIMIDE inspection group feels it is not being considered as important as it esteems itself.
